Bio for Tate Simms Tate was born in Manhattan, New York and raised on the best music ever written. Tate is an accomplished vocalist, guitarist, bassist, songwriter, and producer. Tate has made an impact on the planet as a live performer for many artists. Tate has toured the globe with the likes of Grammy Award winning vocalist Christina Aguilera, Mary Wilson of the Legendary Supremes, Globus, The New Ray Charles Orchestra, George Benson, Sheryl Crow, Kurtis Blow and Oran Juice Jones. Tate has also jammed with Spencer Davis and has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, backing Lisa Marie Presley with the Harlem Gospel Choir. Tate sang back up for Paul Carrack and has made television appearances with Joe Cocker, Sir Cliff Richards, Tony Christie, and Esperanza Spaulding, just to name a few. Tate has even played with classical great Andre Rieu. Along with performing, Tate was also the Musical Director for Latoya Jackson and Marla Glen and he was the Band Leader of the Hank Lane Orchestra. Tate recently opened for Living Colour and recently performed with Bobby Brown, The Coasters and The Drifters. Currently, Tate is the lead guitarist for Frankie âKashâ Waddyâs Funk House, who was a member of the James Brown Band, Bootsy Collins and Funkadelic. We will soon be with Neftali Santiago and Funkadrill. The Original Drummer for The Band Mandrill.
