Ruth Carlyle is a singer based in Lichfield in the UK. She sings mostly folk songs and contemporary classical music, particularly in collaboration with David Barton. The painted illustrations for her songs are by Ruth's husband, Nic Carlyle. She also uses her full name when writing lyrics, Eleanor Ruth Carlyle. Her first EP was a collaboration with @David Barton, Annabel Lee Replies, released on 1st November 2020. This album sets two poems by Ruth and also poems by Edgar Allan Poe, Anne Brontë and Robert Browning. Her single ‘She moved through the fair’ (released 31st May 2021) combines a traditional Irish folk song with locally recorded soundscapes that set the scene of each verse of the song. Ruth’s single (released 12 November 2022) with Helen Sanderson-White, ‘A Homely Blessing’ was inspired by experiences Ruth and her husband Nic had as volunteers at the Faith In Action Homelessness Project in Merton, South London. Her second EP setting her lyrics in collaboration with David Barton, ‘By Woodland Ways’, was released on 4 February 2023.
