We live in beautiful Western North Carolina near the Tennessee border, right on the Boundary Line so to speak. I have been writing songs for over 40 years and have only recently decided to get serious about producing demo quality tracks for every song I ever wrote. I layer in the lyrics and tune into Ai tools and it "unpacks" it. It's a process. Each song is special to me. Some are fun, some are sarcastic and others may just squeeze a tear out of you. All of them, I believe, have a message worth sharing. Perspectives you will never hear on over-pasteurized faith radio. As a child and teenager I played Tennis throughout Germany. Later I started working with my voice, primarily in Radio. Since about 25 years I write lyrics, aphorisms and short stories. Some of them are set to music.
Pacific Northwest Electronic artist Brendan Casey used to clear hiking paths in Montana’s forests with a “Katana Boy,” a type of small handsaw. Years later, he named his project after the saw. Like its namesake, Katana Boy makes space for wandering. An active organizer of the burgeoning, local scene on San Juan Island and drummer of folk-rock outfit Shadow Basket, Brendan’s been honing Katana Boy since 2017. He shapes synth patches and builds rhythms in an introspective process, taking ideas from the intensely beautiful landscape of his home. Brendan started making beats with acts like Four Tet and Flying Lotus on repeat, and he carries on these early influences. The resulting tracks invite both solitary contemplation and dancing all night with friends. Katana Boy’s newest album, out Nov 28, 2025, Night of the Cosmic Drifter and Other Strange Tales is a collection of short sound stories. Casey takes inspiration from classic house sounds while giving us sparkling synth lines reminiscent of sea-dwelling bio-luminescent organisms.
