Merchants of Venice were a progressive punk band from Provo, Utah. They were known in the local scene for their unique and complex songs, and for their raw and energetic live performances. As of August 2024, they are on Indefinite hiatus. Their self titled album includes a wide range of styles including Punk, Rock, Pop, Blues, Funk, Metal, Chamber, Folk and Expirimental. Most of the album was self recorded and self produced, with all but one of the sessions taking place at the Provo City Library. Additional production is from Brian Ziske and Andrew Hack. His music inspiration comes from real life events and relatable day to day activities which he uses to paint pictures and serenades his listeners with his good sounds, With Olajiide striking music interest in hip hop, Fuji, apala, highlife, Afrobeat and good music in generally, you can tell that his sound is an embodiment of different genre of music which he tags “ Afro-fusion ” Music to Olajiide is like a weapon used to express oneself and it’s also an antidote to uplift the spirit or emotions in general.
