Born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York 2nd gen Italian/American Gary Private started out as a drummer playing the N.Y. club circuit (Max's Kansas City, CBGB's, Coventry, Peppermint Lounge) etc; with many NYC bands (Legs Latreau, Dancer, Arrival) continuing on to front his own band. Signing a recording contract as singer/songwriter, G.Pvt. went on to record with Select Records. Soon after a requested performance at Studio 54 (NYC) for Calvin Klein's birthday party, he was signed by Atlantic Records which then released a remake of the Four Tops song "Reach Out, I'll Be There." The next record on Atlantic was Secret Love, which featured original songs written by Private. : Private was featured on Dick Clark's American Bandstand twice, Playboy's Girls of Rock-N-Roll, Disney's Flight of the Navigator, daytime soap "One Life To Live", Teen Beat magazine, Details Magazine and Billboard Magazine's Top Album and Single picks. Gary has worked with some of the greatest musicians in the world: T.M.Stevens on bass, David Bowie's Stan Harrison on Sax, Uptown Horns Arno Hecht on sax, Steely Dan's "Elliott Randall" on guitar, Meatloaf's Bob Kulick on guitar and bass player Kenny Aaronson. Also played with great local NYC musicians like: Steve Restaino on guitar, Elliott Glenn (RIP) on every instrument imaginable. Produced by Steve Tyrell w/Barry Mann, Fred Munao, David Kitay and Rick Knowles. Recently in 2022 recorded at REALSONGS studio, a Diane Warren tune "Faith Of The Heart".
