On his 2022 independent debut, “Not So Anonymous”, the alternative singer-songwriter Jxst Hype delivers a blend of punk rock, emo rap, and acoustic folk that is both bravely vulnerable and powerfully relatable. This unique mixture finds a way to simultaneously give a nostalgic feel of the early 2000’s while also sounding like it can be heard on modern radio. The album offers listeners a deep look into the depths of his mind and heart, as he wrestles with the difficulties of mental health, vices/addiction, grief, relationships, and self-love. The Brooklyn native is on a mission that's bigger than record sales or brand recognition. He sees himself as a messenger with a unique ability to make heart to heart contact through self-expression. His goal is to dig deep into souls by finding commonality with his audience, internalizing that familiar story and putting words to shared experiences. Hype can speak to your insecurities because he's felt your pain. And he does so on this album with lyrics that are as much clever as they are heart wrenching.
