Through this transient lifestyle, he is constantly drawing inspiration from his diverse experiences and encounters, resulting in a unique blend of genres that defies easy categorization. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Cape's musical projects have clear Naarm influences throughout, exploring the depths of house and techno whilst constantly toying with different ideas and themes. With each project, Cape Orchard is constantly experimenting with new sounds and textures, showcasing his versatility and eclectic taste, whilst also pushing his own boundaries. Just like the art he creates, Cape's own musical tastes are as diverse as his travels. He draws influence from a wide range of genres, from growing up as a youth listening to garage rock and hip-hop, to then expanding his palette to include jazz and indie house, all the way through to minimal and industrial techno. Congo Lion is immersed in African, Afro-Caribbean and reggae music from an early age. Settled in Africa when he was a teenager, he is strongly inspired by artists such as Burning Spear, Peter Tosh or The Gladiators. Convictions and values carried by their captivating melodies, full of humanity and spirituality, echo the sensitivity of Congo Lion. “Word, power and sound” is the foundation of his creative approach, inviting to a return to origins and openness to others. Self-taught, he composed his first songs in English and Jamaican dialect under the name of Natty Congo, at the age of 16. Collaborating mostly with Karigan, who played with many Reggae artists such as Cedric Myton, R-zee Jackson, recording at his Back to Basic Studio to invites to discover a Reggae Roots Vintage music without concession, with original creations in the pure tradition of the 70s, 80s.
