Petitions started life as an acoustic duo consisting of Ben Chapman and Nel Fairbrass. They were quickly joined by Ben’s brother Will, rehearsing a few times over the summer before deciding to continue the project into the following college year. The trio set to work recording rough demos over the summer, which wrapped up in early October 2024. Around this time, Violet Gainsford joined the band on bass, completing the band’s current line-up, and rehearsals began soon after.
