Inspired by Critical Theory and guied by Musical Theory, I strive to transform social experiences and reflections into compositions that go beneath the surface, instigating creative and individual metaphorical abstraction. My music is fueled by a desire to understand the complexities of the power networkies, identity, and cultural context—themes that always resonate in my lyrics and melodies. Rooted in Latin America with a view towards the world, each song invites listeners to explore stories, question certainties, and find, in art, a form of dialogue with our time. My affinity for linguistics manifested itself from an early age through poetry, but it was only in my late teens that it merged with the principles of musical theory, bringing musicality to my writings. This process gave rise to my first melodies, which were shaped through multi-instrumental experimentation and the first virtual technologies, incipient at this time. For 20 years, composing has been a recurring element in my life, often left aside by academic and professional commitments. Now, I have decided to make this creative practice an integral part of my daily routine.

While the chaos of the world can make it hard to understand one another, music is the one language that unites us all; a language that FiNesi speaks quite well. The St. Louis-born crooner doesn’t come from a family of artists, but the impeccable sonics of Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind And Fire, Rick James, King Sunny Adé, and Shina Peters soundtracked his household. Such legendary influences consumed him to the point where he would even engage in dance competitions with his cousins and his uncle would offer a cash prize. FiNesi wrote his first song at 10 years old, right around when he moved to Houston, however, he didn’t begin actually recording until 2018. He describes his sound, which people may falsely limit to Afrobeats, as RAF-B: Rock, Afro, Funk, and Blues. The Nigerian heartthrob isn’t afraid to bare his soul to anyone who will listen as he knows, one day, everyone will want to hear what he has to offer due to having relatable experiences. He’s been fortunate enough to link up with the right people, such as engineer Ayanna Depas who has worked with H.E.R and Prime, who has engineered for Rick Ross, Dave East, and Jim Jones. Through his music, FiNesi plans to reach his full potential and encourage his listeners to do so one song at a time, no matter how much this world may try to dim everyone’s lights. It just takes some finesse, and he is full of it.
