"Invokes 80s era Petty and Springsteen" -Minneapolis Star Tribune Ian Alexy is a singer songwriter and guitarist who has built a career through hundreds of energized live performances and a set list full of infectious songs. He is a member of Americana roots group Hobo Nephews Of Uncle Frank. Born in Philadelphia and raised on the New Jersey shore, Ian Alexy began his career studying guitar at Berklee College Of Music in Boston and even traveled to West Africa where he studied high life guitar and drumming. He spent much of the the last decade playing hundreds of shows across the USA, recording 4 records as a solo artist and 6 records with Hobo Nephews Of Uncle Frank. He has also recorded under the names Ian Thomas Alexy and Broken Billy. Ian Alexy”s EP Deserters was created in Minneapolis with his dynamic backing band, Ian Alexy and The Deserters. The band takes its inspiration from 80s pop rock acts like The Pretenders and Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. After recording a haunting rendition of Lana Del Rey”s modern classic Video Games, Ian set out to record his next record, the forthcoming Troubadour 21st Century. His new single Making It Shine is the first single from the coming record. Ian Alexy is also a filmmaker and is releasing a documentary series also titled Making It Shine which looks back at his life in music.
