Recorded between September of 2022 and May of 2023, “When You’re Sick”, the debut record by Sweetheart Grip, formed in the Winter of 2022 by veterans of the Morgantown, WV punk and hardcore communities, combines the melodies and rhythms of Revolution Summer-era DC bands like Embrace and Rites of Spring with straight-forward, guitar-driven rock and roll in the vein of MC5 and Motörhead, the moody, bass-heavy sounds of bands like The Chameleons and Joy Division, and the blistering pace of early Bad Brains and Negative Approach. The result is truly unique; a band at once at home in the worlds of hardcore, punk, and independent rock and roll, and a sound at once modern and classic.
In 2005, Darling signed a worldwide publishing and recording deal with Toronto-based FOD Records and, in 2006, released his debut album Shell. The album received critical acclaim throughout Europe and Darling found himself opening up for Bryan Adams throughout his 2007 tour of Italy. In 2010 Darling released his second album, “StewAmericano", which received-outstanding reviews in the UK. In 2014, Darling co-wrote three songs – "Hold On", "Don’t Wake Me Up" and "Beautiful" – on Julian Lennon’s Everything Changes album. In 2015 Darling provided vocals for Regan's Theme on Ennio Morricone's Oscar-winning score for Quentin Tarantino’s "The Hateful Eight". Darling, who is a long-term resident of Europe, has attained 4 Top 40 US Billboard status for his last four single releases. He is currently working as a producer, singer, composer, co-writing the top 40 track “Lucky Ones” by Julian Lennon and producing the up and coming artist NOANNE, which has been receiving critical acclaim with her recent singles “White Glove” and “Forgivness”..
