Artists: Harry Christelis

"Compelling ambient music pitched somewhere between In A Silent Way-era Miles Davis and late-era Talk Talk” - The Guardian “Music with a serene beauty” - Kevin Le Gendre, BBC Radio 3 Born and raised in London, guitarist and composer Harry Christelis has become a distinctive voice in the UK’s improvised music scene. Renowned for his impressionistic sound and sensitivity to space and atmosphere, Christelis crafts music that feels both intimate and expansive. His delicate, understated approach to both composition and performance reflects a deep reverence for an eclectic range of musical influences — from Jakob Bro, Bill Frisell, and John Martyn to Midori Takada, Talk Talk, Jon Hassell, Grouper, and Paul Motian. Yet, he weaves these inspirations into something unmistakably his own: a seamless fusion of jazz, ambient, folk, free improvisation, rock, and electronic traditions. Across his projects, Christelis explores these intersections with a focus on texture, mood, and collective interplay. His growing catalogue — including Moostak Trio (2020), Scribbling (Ubuntu, 2022), Nurture The Child / Challenge The Adult (Clonmell Jazz Social, 2023), Live at Mu (Maps For Getting Lost, 2025), and Half Truths (Clonmell Jazz Social, 2025) — has received widespread critical acclaim in the UK and beyond. His forthcoming album, Preserving Fictions, is set for release in 2026.
