Troy “Dj Troy” Manderson grew up in a single-parent home, with seven older siblings. Hard work and poverty were the norms for the Montego Bay native. Such an environment could have altered young Troy’s future. however, being involved in the arts -whether in school or as extra curricular- meant less opportunity for negative influences. Music, in particular, became a distraction from the adverse elements associated with inner-city life. Early on DJ Troy realized his gift for combining lyrics and beats. Though his love of music came naturally, it was not until he gave his life to Jesus Christ that he gained a deeper understanding of the power of music, and God’s design for it as a ministering tool. “Music has always been my life, just performing is an ability, but ministry is giving your ability to be used by the Most High . . . . I hope that God uses me to raise a new generation of ‘WORLD CHANGERS’ who will impact and change their environment and the world”. His goal is to reach as many youths with the Gospel--first in his island Jamaica, then the world. All this through Christ representation. As he continues to minister the Gospel, DJ Troy keeps focused on the reason for the song--“IT’S ALL ABOUT KING JESUS”.
Capturing the spirit of a forgotten era. Hooked on the emerging house scene in the Netherlands since 1989, we witnessed the split between mellow (club) and hardcore (later gabber) in the early ’90s. By 1993, we had built our own studio and focused on preparing live sets. The tracks were recorded specifically for these performances — never mastered, never released. Now, more than 3 decades later, we’re dusting them off to share with those who lived it… and those who wish they had.
The new single ”FÖRLORAT LAND (DESERTÖREN)” is a song about doing the right thing, no matter the personal consequence. Soulrock that is digging its way up through the dirt, into a better world.
