Stavanger born pianist Eivind Austad formed his trio while being a student at the Jazz department in the music conservatory in Trondheim in the late 1990’s. After moving to Bergen and establishing himself as a freelance musician the trio found its current lineup in 2013 with bass player Magne Thormodsæter and drummer Håkon Mjåset Johansen. Their debut album, “Moving” released in 2016 on the German label Ozella, got them many great reviews for their music which has a unique blend of influences from classical, gospel, r&b, jazz and folk music. Among the highlights was a version of the late David Bowie’s iconic song “Life on Mars”. “... during its 15-year existence they have developed a distinct voice largely beyond the scope of national and international scrutiny. All his mistakes and wrong turning that mark the inevitable path of a true artist have been done in relative privacy, and his style, both mature and fully-formed, is revealed here.” - Stuart Nicholson, Jazzwise Their second album, “Northbound”, was released in 2019 on Losen Records and recieved numerous great reviews. On this album they were further exploring more of Austad’s lyrical and melodic compositions. Their third album, “Live in Oslo», was released in December 2022 and was a live recording of a concert they played in Oslo in october 2020 just in between two Covid lockdowns. I've been writing songs and playing in various bands or as a solo act since 1990, recording an album ("Mellow Drama", with the band Phringe) and four EPs ("Window Seat" - Phringe; "Suspension Of Disbelief" with Memo and "Exit Strategy" and "Asked & Answered" as Bruce Dennill) as well as occasional one-off singles. I'm a writer by trade, working in the magazine world as well as online, where I write and edit an arts and culture magazine - including music reviews and interviews - called pARTicipate (www.brucedennill.co.za). Storytelling is a natural focus, and my songwriting style reflects that, with listeners being able to identify parts of their own journeys. I regularly perform, record and release my
Remaining versatile and endlessly creative for nearly a decade, Operator Music Band has created a unique catalogue of releases that spans several genres: from creamy lounge to pulsating dance to angular post-punk to ethereal minimalism. OMB centers around the collaboration between Dara Hirsch and Jared Hiller with a rotating group of accompanying members. Hirsch, a composer, producer, DJ and podcast audio engineer brings an eclectic sophistication to the project while Hiller, a designer of electronic instruments, offers an unpredictably novel approach to tones and textures. They are currently joined by drummer and percussionist, Daniel Siles. The band reimagined their sound in 2023 with the release of a series of singles that incorporate influences from dance, techno and house.
