Cheick Sanoko, known by his stage name African French Poet, was born and raised in Paris with origins from Mali and Senegal. He began his journey in the world of reggae as an MC and reggae broadcaster in Toulouse, France, during the late 1980s. In 1992, he relocated to London, where he currently resides, in order to pursue his career in reggae music. However, shortly after, he took a hiatus from his reggae pursuits after embracing Islam. During this period, he dedicated his time to writing poetry and occasionally performed at various poetry gatherings. In 2020, African French Poet made a comeback to reggae music, expressing his passion with the release of his first two singles, "Si la terre avait un cœur" and "Destruction." Since his return, African French Poet has been consistently releasing a multitude of singles. An EP titled "Reggae in the Soul" was released in March 2024. Additionally, another EP is currently in the works, although the exact release date has not yet been confirmed. Furthermore, two singles titled "Never Renounce" and “Jah is Great” (alongside Daddy Freddy) are set to be released in lately August 2024. Therefore, it is advised to stay updated for more upcoming projects from African French Poet in the near future.
