Artists: The Hardy Tree

The Hardy Tree is the musical project of illustrator Frances Castle who runs the London based label Clay Pipe Music, known for its beautifully presented vinyl releases.
The Fields Lie Sleeping Underneath by The Hardy Tree was the very first release on the label in 2010, initially issued as a limited edition CD in a hand-printed cover it was championed by Jarvis Cocker on his BBC 6 Music show and sold out quickly. It was reissued on vinyl for the label's 10 year anniversary in 2021.
The second LP Through Passages of Sound came out in 2015. Recorded in Frances’ spare attic room and mixed to tape at Gizzard Studio East London. Using analogue synths and Mellotron the album is a paean to buildings and areas of London that no longer exist – the small places stumbled upon by accident, traced on maps, and illustrated in old prints. Other releases include the two Stagdale EPs - that soundtrack the first two parts of a graphic novel by written and illustrated by Frances set in a rural English village in the 1970s and World War 2, and Sketches in D Minor a 77.7 min track produced for the WIAIYA label.
The newest Hardy Tree LP ‘Common Grounds’ (released in July 2022) was started during the pandemic, and soundtracks urban walks through Victorian London suburbs using a sound pallet of strings, hushed synths and dusty arpeggios. It was Bleep’s album of the week, and early vinyl copies came with signed prints of Frances’ artwork.

Artists: Gregory Echols

Gregory Lewis Echols is a natural-born musician and visionary composer whose sound transcends genre and generation. His music captures the essence of life, love, and hope—delivering soulful, inspirational tones that resonate deeply with listeners. With a unique ability to blend House, Jazz, R&B, Pop, and Gospel, Gregory’s work is both timeless and rooted in purpose. Born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Gregory was raised in a musically inclined family and moved to Harvey, Illinois at the age of eight following the passing of his mother. As the youngest of five siblings, he found early expression through music, playing drums in a family group formed by his mother. Though originally drawn to sports, his passion for music was ignited during a visit to Guitar Center in high school—and never left him. Gregory eventually founded Make Us One Productions, his independent music label, where he began writing, composing, arranging, and producing. His signature musical approach—“The Way of the Minstrel”—blends heartfelt melodies and intricate arrangements that move audiences of all backgrounds. The man behind the music wants to share his sound as his spiritual gift to the world. Driven by faith, resilience, and a deep love for his craft, Gregory Echols is not only a musician, but a vessel for musical storytelling—dedicated to creating music that uplifts, heals, and inspires. Gregory now calls Chicagoland home, where he enjoys life’s journey raising his two sons.
