Artists: Deviant Electronics

Deviant Electronics was the solo project of UK electronic artist Ciaran Walsh from 1995 to 2000. After a series of one-off releases under different names while still in his teens, Ciaran co-founded Helix Records in 1995 to release the first Deviant Electronics 12". "Psi Corps" and follow ups "Oxygen Cult" and "Viral Spiral" gained traction with trance DJs, and Deviant Electronics became a regular headline live act at London's major trance parties Otherworld and Return To The Source. Debut album "Brainwashing Is Childs Play" followed in 1997, picking up positive reviews for its hard edged but melodic sound. Live performances across the UK, Europe, the US and Japan took Deviant Electronics global. In 1998 Deviant Electronics signed with Blue Room Released - both artist and label keen to explore new musical directions. Ciaran spent two years developing a more expansive and eclectic sound influenced by drum'n'bass, breakbeat and trip hop, culminating in the release of "Blunt Instruments" in 2000. At the same time Ciaran started producing sound design and music for videogames, going on to work on major music games Singstar and Guitar Hero, creating cult indie music game Chime (featuring collaborations with Plaid and SK Shlomo and music from Philip Glass and Orbital's Paul Hartnoll), and projects with The Chainsmokers and Snoop Dogg. Deviant Electronics resurfaced in 2011 with live shows and the 2013 release of "Green Room", a collection of rare and unreleased tracks.
