Harbour District is the creative alias of Amsterdam-based Indie Rock singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Mike Liauw. His music is deeply influenced by Post-Punk, New Wave, and Indie Rock, crafted with authenticity and passion. The name Harbour District pays homage to the Eastern Harbour District of Amsterdam, the neighborhood Liauw calls home. Liauw’s musical journey began in the early 1980s when he learned his first rock and roll guitar chords from his father. By the late ’80s, he had established himself as a frontman and guitarist in several New Wave bands, including The Swinging Doctors, Deadending, It Will End In Tears, and Kingdom of Rain. In the mid-1990s, he expanded his artistic reach by forming the Grunge band Debonair. Since 1990, he has also been writing and producing home-recorded tracks under the pseudonym Broken English. In 2018, Liauw launched Harbour District, marking a new chapter in his musical evolution.
